Performing Dog started barking in the 70`s as a heavy rock band, formed by Gerry Stevens (Bass), Dougie (Old Sarge) Paterson (Guitar) and were soon joined by Eddie (Hessell) Torley (Drums and vocals), Adam Gordon Guitar. The Line up changed along with the music when big Jim Johnstone took over from the sarge. The band started playing a mixture of new wave and rock standards and were to become very popular in the pubs, clubs and hotels of East Lothian. They were also resident band/drunks in the Scotsman Bar in Edinburgh for a number of years. There were personnel changes over the years, mentioned in dispatches are David Bailey (Drums and Vocals), Frank Traynor (Guitar), Sam McEwan (Guitar and Vocals) and Andy Findlay (Bass). Gerry Stevens died in 1986 and to this day is sorely missed.

 

Home grown band from Prestonpans `The Movers` celebrate there 30th anniversary since the band formed in 1977. The Movers formed IN 1977 deriving from a number of local bands and the original line up was George Logan (Drums), Steve Glynn (Guitar), John Sneddon (Bass), Ronnie McDonald (Vocals), Stuart McDonald (Vocals). The line up changed when Ronnie McDonald left the band and this left the basis of The Movers for the years to come, the only noticeable change was the addition of Jimmy Currie (Keyboards). The band was made up of local lads from Prestonpans and Port Seton. The Movers served there apprenticeship playing in pubs, clubs and night clubs in the North of Scotland, North of England and Central Scotland. The Band had a strong local following, supporting their unique style of good pop music. When the band first started of, they were playing mainly covers but this was added to with a series of original compositions. The Movers continue to play whenever the chance permits with George Logan, Steve Glynn and John Sneddon on lead vocal.

 

Funkstar formed in 2005 and have been actively gigging around the Lothians and further afield  with there own versions of classic Funk, Disco and soul covers. George Colin and Al have played together for around 20 years and Gary and Cheryl have both been singing for as long as they can remember. Cheryl is the daughter of Jimmy Currie another well known local musician. Jimmy was the Keyboard player with the Movers. Jimmy died in 2005 and he to, like Gerry is sorely missed.

 

Spike Island are a three piece band consisting of guitar, bass and drums. The band were formed in Prestonpans three years ago and have been playing together ever since. They play at parties, festivals, pubs and clubs around East Lothian, Edinburgh and Fife. They have a large Repertoire of Indie / Rock music and a set of original material.

 

Vintage have been together for 8 years, the band met through school and work. Paul joined in February 2003. The band consists of Paul Brownlee (Vocals), Stevie Scott (Guitar), Bruce Thomson (Bass) and Steve Archibald (Drums).
